Marriage Licence Application
Please note this is not a marriage licence. In order to obtain the official marriage licence, you must visit the Clerk’s Office on the main floor at Woodstock City Hall, 500 Dundas Street in person, pay the $125 fee, provide 2 pieces of government issued identification these must be originals or certified copies and any other required documentation.
You may now upload your proof of identification. 2 pieces of government-issued identification for each person getting married. One piece of identification must include your photo.
Examples of government-issued identification:
- government-issued birth certificate, including any change of name certificates
- valid passport
- record of immigrant landing
- Canadian Citizenship Card
- valid driver’s licence
- valid Ontario Photo Card
Divorced in Canada
You may upload the requried documents for official proof of divorce. Acceptable documents are as follows:
- the final decree
- the final judgment
- a certificate of divorce
Divorced outside of Canada
If you were divorced outside of Canada, you will need to provide certain documents to prove that you are no longer married. The government needs to validate these documents. This process can take up to 4 weeks. Please visit the Services Ontario website for instructions.

It is recommended that you contact City Hall at 519-539-1291 to ensure your licence is ready and the necessary staff available prior to coming in.
